End-of-Life Doula

Karen Quasny provides End-of-Life Doula services. In this role, Karen provides important emotional and practical support to individuals and families who are experiencing, or planning for, the final stages of life’s journey. By actively listening, Karen focuses on what an individual wants, making sure their values and beliefs are included in their end-of-life plans. Karen also supports family members by helping them deal with their feelings, offering comfort and understanding during what is often experienced as “a difficult time.” Karen’s holistic approach addresses not just physical needs but also emotional and spiritual needs, creating a supportive environment that respects each person's unique journey. 

Families choose an End-of-Life Doula to help in providing:

  • Calm support during emotional moments

  • Guidance so families know what to expect

  • Comfort and companionship for the individual

  • Rest and reassurance for caregivers

  • Advocacy to ensure wishes are honored

  • Advanced Care Planning: Facilitating discussions about end-of-life wishes, including advanced directives, funeral arrangements, and support for memorial planning.

  • Legacy Work: Assisting in honoring a life through meaningful stories, letters, recordings, or memory projects that can be treasured by loved ones.

  • Advocacy: Supporting individuals' personal wishes and ensuring their dignity is respected at every stage.

  • Practical Assistance: Coordinating schedules, organizing documents, and running errands.

  •  Caregiver Respite: Providing family caregivers with time to rest and recharge, with the assurance that their loved one is safely supported.

  •  Comfort Measures: Creating moments of peace and relaxation through reading, gentle meditation, soft music, or a soothing atmosphere, as well as guided imagery.

  •  Companionship: Offering a steady, compassionate presence at the bedside, providing comfort, reassurance, and calm.
